OneCarolina's next phase getting underway
With the first phase of OneCarolina winding down (but with the understanding that regular work will continue on Self Service Carolina, Internet Native Banner, and auxiliary systems indefinitely), project staff hit the ground running upon returning to the office earlier this month.
Before leaving in December, the university finalized its contracts with Oracle. Since then, the infrastructure team has been setting up servers and installing PeopleSoft, the platform that will serve as the backbone of the human resources, finance, and payroll systems to be implemented during the second phase of OneCarolina. With that infrastructure installation expected to be completed by the end of the month, contracts with implementation partners, which include training consultants, are also in the works and could be finalized around the same time.
Speaking of training, finance team training is scheduled to start in February, with HR and payroll core team training following in May. Work is also being done to grow staff size to support a healthy development effort.
Overall, it's fair to say that prep work for phase two is in full swing with more developments coming in the weeks and months ahead.
