SSC sees upgrade, PeopleSoft design sessions ongoing

With the summer (and its requisite high temperatures) now here in earnest, OneCarolina staff have been busy upgrading both the systems implemented during Phase I while also setting the table for PeopleSoft to come online as part of Phase II.

For starters, new versions of Banner for Financial Aid, Student, and Accounts Receivable have been installed, tested, and put into production. Banner version 8.6 introduces a slew of changes, fixes, and improvements that get Self Service Carolina and Internet Native Banner both fully up-to-date. And perhaps most importantly, Financial Aid is now fully in-line with federal regulatory requirements.

As far as Phase II is concerned, the Finance and Technical teams have completed several Conference Room Pilot (CRP) sessions thus far: general ledger, commitment control, capital projects, purchasing, and accounts payable. Finance’s CRP began in April and is tentatively scheduled to run until the end of the month.

Meanwhile, the Human Resources and Payroll teams continue to prepare for their own CRP, which is scheduled to begin at the end of June.

Other news and notes:

  • One of the project's primary training tools for the second phase, Oracle User Productivity Kit (UPK), has been installed, and functional teams have already begun to identify key business processes that will be documented as training topics. A demo of the Knowledge Center, UPK’s corresponding learning management system, is currently being developed for the project team.
  • An analysis of potential document imaging solutions has been completed, which resulted in the recommendation of Hyland OnBase.
