November 2011 OneCarolina Update
After we made a decision earlier this summer to delay its implementation, the admissions portion of OneCarolina is scheduled to go live in July 2012.
Since 2010, we’ve been busy overhauling the university’s suite of legacy systems, which was designed prior to the advent of the Internet. These systems handle everything from admissions to Carolina Card management to course registration.
OneCarolina will result in a standard, Web-based system that serves the needs of all faculty, staff, and students. OneCarolina will utilize a single database, making it easier to communicate, share information, and perform administrative tasks.
We are committed to launching an easy-to-use and stable system; the decision to extend the launch of the admissions portion of OneCarolina was only made after a careful review and analysis of the project, its goals, and its resources.
In response, for the last several months we’ve been hard at work reevaluating our project plan, reallocating internal resources, and ensuring that we’re well-positioned moving forward.
