B.S. (Bachelor of Science) - Aerospace Engineering
USC's College of Engineering and Computing offers the State's only aerospace engineering programs. The curriculum focuses on research, design, development, construction, testing, science and technology of aircraft.
The M.S. degree program includes 24 hours of graded course work (5 core courses and 3 electives) + 6 hours of thesis preparation.
The M.E. degree program requires 30 hours of graded course work (5 core courses and 3 electives). No thesis is required, but M.E. students must pass a comprehensive written exam.
Part of the mechanical engineering department, the minor is open to all engineering students in the College of Engineering and Computing. It requires 18 credit hours (3 core courses and 3 electives). The Aerospace minor coursework sets up nicely to pursue a Masters in Aerospace Engineering.
Aerospace engineering deals with the design, construction, and study of the science behind the forces and physical properties of aircraft, rockets, and spacecraft. The field also covers their aerodynamic characteristics and behaviors - airfoil, control surfaces, lift, drag and other properties.
Students of the College of Engineering and Computing gain an understanding of aerodynamics, structures, vehicle dynamics and control and propulsion, which prepares them for careers in aerospace and related engineering fields.
