Connect Through Global Learning

When you study world history, learn another language or explore other cultures, you begin a journey of global learning. To help you along your path, the university offers experiences that connect your academic studies to the larger world.

Choosing the right experiences can take you beyond the classroom — WAY beyond the classroom — across borders and even to other countries. Global learning experiences can expand your horizons and the Office of Study Abroad is a great resource for checking out opportunities around the world.

Learning to be a true global citizen can also be enhanced through learning about other cultures right here at home.  A host of international support services connect local students with others from all over the world. You can become a conversation partner, join Buddies Beyond Borders or check out programs at the International House at Maxcy College.

USC Connect offers some recommendations based on your major and can help you learn to reflect on your experiences, then document, apply and share what you've learned with others. If you choose, you may even use these experiences to pursue Graduation with Leadership Distinction in Global Learning.

I lived in another country for four months. I found myself in difficult situations and was able to conquer them. I learned how to overcome cultural and language barriers and found out that I am stronger and more independent than I ever thought I could be.
