Background

Hometown: Farmville, VA

About Me: Originally from Farmville, Virginia (it's a real place!), I am a proud graduate of James Madison University and the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!). Prior to my career in higher education, I served as an eighth grade English teacher in Virginia. I have had the opportunity to serve and learn at Carolina in multiple capacities, including Graduate Assistant for LGBT Programs, Assistant Director of Transfer and Special Student Population Services, Director of the Gamecock Gateway, and now Assistant Director of First-Year Advising. A higher education "nerd," you will often find me exploring college campuses when not at Chipotle or ChickfilA.

Areas of Expertise:  Teaching/Instruction; First-Year and Transfer Student Support; Campus Inclusivity; Presentations/Marketing

Professional Achievements

  • 2013 Division of Student Affairs and Academic Support New Professional of the Year Award

Advice to Students:  Be open to all that is around you! When you are vulnerable to your new opportunities, you learn so much about yourself, and you fall in love with Carolina over and over again.
