As the Fitness Graduate Assistant, Shelly assists in managing the Group Exercise Program. Her main responsibilities include training and scheduling instructors and planning events to encourage participation in group classes. She began this particular role in 2016, but she began instructing group exercise classes in 2013 when she was an undergrad at the University of South Carolina.
Shelly earned a Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management from the University of South Carolina in 2014. She is currently seeking a Masters of Public Health in Health Promotion, Education, and Behavior.
After learning valuable customer service lessons and saying “my pleasure” while working for Chick-fil-A during her undergraduate years, she quickly learned that fitness was actually her true passion. She began as Group Exercise Instructor at USC in 2013 and stayed in the fitness industry after she graduated. Shelly worked as a Group Exercise Instructor at Pivotal Fitness and an Exercise Specialist for the on-site employee wellness center at Colonial Life Insurance Company.
Shelly’s favorite part of working within Campus Recreation is experiencing the contagious passion within the students and staff! Everyone is excited to be at work! Shelly’s hobbies include laughing excessively, eating copious amount of chocolate, and traveling anywhere at anytime.
