Introduction to Digital Photography

Course Description

Learn the basic operation of your camera while recognizing why and how photography is combining art and science to write with light. Important core fundamentals are explained to form a firm foundation for future photographic skills.

Bring your point and shoot or SLR camera to class as we discuss some of the most common functions and features:

  • Focus
  • Zoom
  • Flash
  • Shutter speed
  • ISO
  • Resolution
  • White balance
  • Media cards

Once you’re familiar with the camera controls, we’ll move on to the key elements of taking better pictures: composition, exposure, lighting, and subject matter.

Once you’re taking better pictures and taken lots of them, we'll uncover what to do with all of these pictures.  Creating an efficient workflow is one of the most important aspects of digital photography. We will discuss importing, managing, storing, and printing your digital files.
