The Educational Technology Showcase is an exciting new forum spotlighting the latest in higher education technology used for teaching and learning.
To be held on April 6, 2018, the Showcase has lined up an exciting Agenda. USC faculty and other experts from around the country will give presentations on how they are creatively using educational technology in and beyond their classrooms to improve student learning.
Visit with industry partners who provide and support USC’s instructional technologies. You will hear about the latest technologies in the field during sponsor presentations and participate in hands-on demonstrations throughout the day.
We invite you to come and network with others interested in exploring educational technologies. There are no registration fees, and continental breakfast and lunch are included.

Keynote Speaker
The EdTech Showcase Keynote Speaker is Daisyane Barreto, an Assistant Professor at University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW). She earned her Ph.D. in Learning, Design, and Technology from the University of Georgia. Prior to joining UNCW, she worked as a multimedia developer for non-profit and higher education institutions. She was also a research assistant with Disney Connected Learning in the design of learning games.
Prior to working in higher education, Daisyane worked as teacher/media specialist in K-12 schools in Brazil. She also supervised and designed the academic content for digital interactive learning objects for PROATIVA, a Learning Object Creation unit within the Universidade Federal do Ceara in Brazil. Her teaching interests include training pre-service teachers in technology integration and the design and development of multimedia and online technologies for learning. Her primary research interest is in the field of game-based learning. She is also interested in technology integration, multimedia design and production and online education.

Embracing Innovation: Harnessing the Power of Emerging Technologies to Engage Learners
Learning can happen anywhere and at any time. It is boundless by disciplines or physical (or virtual) spaces. Still, motivating and engaging students in academic learning has been a common challenge among faculty at colleges and universities. With the integration of emerging technologies and practices in our classrooms, we can design engaging student learning experiences. In her keynote, Dr. Barreto will outline the potential of emerging technologies for higher education. She will also share how emerging technologies can be used to enhance teaching and learning practices and better prepare students for the demands of new industries and occupations. To this end, Dr. Barreto will address ways that educators can lead with change and innovative practices to improve and sustain learning beyond the boundaries of the classroom.
