Demographics and Facts

While the work of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion focuses on our campus climate, a natural outcome of this work includes advances in the social and academic connection and achievement of all students, faculty and staff.  The University of South Carolina is committed to creating an environment where everyone is respected and valued.

Rankings and Facts

For three consecutive years USC Columbia has been the recipient of INSIGHT Into Diversity's Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award.

According to Diverse Issues in Higher Education's Top 100 Degree Producers in 2014, USC Columbia ranks:

  • 16th in the number of degrees awarded to African Americans in Mathematics and Statistics; and,
  • 74th in the number of degrees awarded to African Americans in all disciplines combined. This translates to the top 3% of 4-year institutions in the country in the number if degrees awarded to African American students.
