Benefits Fair kicks off the 2018 open enrollment season

Human Resources is hosting a benefits fair on Tuesday, September 26 in the Russell House. Learn about the many benefits programs that are available to you, meet with benefit providers and take advantage of free or low-cost health screenings and flu shots.

USC's 2017-18 ELP Fellows named

President Harris Pastides and Vice President for Human Resources Chris Byrd are pleased to announce the 24 newest members of the Emerging Leaders Program (ELP). The ELP is designed for administrative professionals who have the potential to hold a higher-level administrative leadership position at UofSC in the near future.

USC's 2017-18 PAL Fellows named

Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Joan Gable, and Vice President for Human Resources Chris Byrd are pleased to announce that twenty-six senior faculty and administrative leaders will begin a year-long cohort-based professional development program as Fellows for USC's Pipeline for Academic Leaders (PAL) program.

Retirement contribution increase

In order to strengthen funding for retirement plans administered by the Public Employee Benefits Authority (PEBA), legislation has increased employer and employee retirement contributions. These increases are effective July 1, 2017.

Emerging leaders celebrate program completion

Congratulations to 24 university leaders who graduated the 2016-17 Emerging Leaders Program. Applications for the 2017-18 ELP cohort are being accepted through June 1, 2017.

PAL Fellows celebrate program completion

The University of South Caroline would like to congratulate 25 faculty and administrative leaders who completed the year-long cohort-based professional development program Pipeline for Academic Leaders (PAL). Nominations are currently being accepted for the 2017-18 PAL cohort, which begins in August 2017.

Living the legacy of service

The University of South Carolina would like to congratulate employees who in 2016 reached a milestone of 10 or more years of service with the state of South Carolina and its flagship university.

EAP orientation sessions

UofSC's new Employee Assistance Program provider, MYGroup, will be on the Columbia campus Monday, March 20. Employees are invited to come learn more about how their free services can help with personal, work-related and family concerns.

Several vendors will be on campus this month - offering free one-on-one counselling sessions to their members. Schedule an appointment today to ensure you are ready for your future retirement.

New EAP vendor

McLaughlin Young Group has been selected to manage the university's Employee Assistance Program. Learn how this free, confidential service can help with personal, work-related and family concerns.

IRS form 1095-C to be distributed

The Division of Human Resources is preparing to send out form 1095-C indicating health care coverage status for eligible employees in 2016. You should expect to receive this form by March 2, 2017.

Open enrollment for State ORP

The State Optional Retirement Program (State ORP) open enrollment period is in progress and will run through Wednesday, March 1, 2017. During this time, State ORP participants may change vendors or, if eligible, may choose to switch to the South Carolina Retirement System (SCRS).

Planning for retirement

South Carolina Deferred Compensation Program members may schedule an appointment with USC's retirement specialist on January 17th. Those who are approaching retirement will receive one-on-one counselling to help determine if you are ready for retirement.

Get Set for Retirement

SCRS members who are within 5 years of retirement are invited to attend a seminar on Monday, December 5 to learn about the benefits you can receive from your retirement plan and things to consider before you approach retirement.

IRS raises 2017 contribution limits for Medical Spending Accounts (MSAs)

MSA contribution limits are rising to $2,600. MoneyPlus participants will have until November 15, 2016 to set or increase their contributions amounts for 2017.

Final Reminder: Open Enrollment

Subscribers have until November 15, 2016 to submit open enrollment changes. Learn about your insurance options for 2017, benefits enhancements for the upcoming year and changes you can make during this time.

Prescription coverage changes for 2017

Beginning January 1, 2017, approximately 80 pharmacy products will no longer be covered by the State Health Plan. Effected members should expect to receive a letter in the mail to let them know of these changes.
