Queer Connections: LGBTQ+ First Year Experience Program

Adapting to campus life is an adjustment for all students. The connections we foster with this program are specialized to sustain our LGBTQ+ students throughout their first year at the university.

What We Do

Queer Connections is an event series geared toward LGBTQ+ students who are new to the University of South Carolina. In order to cultivate a supportive space for them, we create opportunities for connections to be made with other Queer/Trans students, faculty and staff and address the challenges of college life from their unique perspective.

What is Queer?

We use "queer" as an umbrella term for people who don't identify with our normative notions of gender. It includes, but is not limited to, those who identify as transgender, transsexual, agender, bigender, genderqueer, genderfluid, two spirit, cross dressers and gender benders.
