Summer Term Orientation

Meet us in May to explore your new campus community. Anyone who is starting at the university in summer is expected to attend, whether you are a first-time college student or you are transferring from another institution of higher learning.

Your session is determined by your starting term and the academic classification, such as freshmen or transfer, for which you've been admitted. Find your orientation session.

Any student starting at the University of South Carolina during the summer semester is included in this session.

Dates and Fees

Summer Term Orientation typically occurs at the end of May.

Summer Semester Dates

Dates will be released in March.


For Student: $220
For Parent or Guest: $115 each
This fee covers your overnight stay in a residence hall, all meals, parking, and all supplies and resources for New Student Orientation. The fee also helps cover salaries for student staff, printing, transportation, equipment and facility rentals.

The parent and guest fee does not cover overnight housing; if your guests wish to stay overnight on campus, they can add this option in the orientation reservation system for $40/night.


You can request a refund through June 1, 2018. Email your request to and include the student's first and last name, date of birth and the reason you need a refund. All refunds are subject to a $35 administrative fee.

What You Need to Know


Cancelling or Changing Your Session

You can use our reservation system to add or remove guests, make changes to your session or have it canceled. If you choose to cancel your request, you must call the Office of New Student Orientation at 803-777-2780. Registration closes 72 hours before the start of each orientation session.
