Join us for a special orientation for families and guest, where you will get a glimpse
of what life on our campus will be like for your student. You will also have a chance
to meet some of the people who will be supporting them and influencing their success in
the years ahead.
Welcome to the Family!
The Office for New Student Orientation offers family orientation programming during
all first-year and transfer student orientation sessions. Although it is not mandatory, we highly encourage each student to have at least one
representative attend this orientation session. Your support has a significant impact on
your student's success.
What to Expect
The family orientation program runs concurrent to, but separate from, the student
orientation program. Through a variety of presentations and programs, family members
will learn more about areas of their student’s college experience. Attending orientation
is a great opportunity for family members to ask questions about the University of
South Carolina and truly understand their student’s transition to college.
As a part of the program, you will:
Meet with academic deans or advisors to discuss your student’s major or program of
study.
Be introduced to academic policies and support resources
Receive information on a variety of services and ways students can get involved at
the university
Ask questions of current students, staff and administrators
Interact with other parents and loved ones of new students
