Join us for a special orientation for families and guest, where you will get a glimpse of what life on our campus will be like for your student. You will also have a chance to meet some of the people who will be supporting them and influencing their success in the years ahead.
The Office for New Student Orientation offers family orientation programming during all first-year and transfer student orientation sessions. Although it is not mandatory, we highly encourage each student to have at least one representative attend this orientation session. Your support has a significant impact on your student's success.
The family orientation program runs concurrent to, but separate from, the student orientation program. Through a variety of presentations and programs, family members will learn more about areas of their student’s college experience. Attending orientation is a great opportunity for family members to ask questions about the University of South Carolina and truly understand their student’s transition to college.

Our campus is rich with academic, leadership and social opportunities. Before your student dives in, they need to know the fundamentals. A two-day orientation is required for all newly admitted students starting in the fall.
Your student is no stranger to academia but they are new to the Carolina community, so let’s get them familiar with the way we do things. All transfer students starting in the fall are required to attend this one-day session.
Your student will be required to attend this orientation in January if they are starting their first semester at USC in the spring. This one-day session offers a lot of beneficial information for freshmen and transfer students, and is mandatory for both.
Your student will be required to attend this orientation in May if they are starting their first semester at USC in the summer. Freshmen and transfer students are required to attend this one-day session prior to enrolling in courses.
