Faculty Participation

There’s no feeling quite like donning your regalia to honor the university’s newest graduates. Faculty members are welcome — and encouraged — to participate in commencement exercises.

Faculty and administrators participating in commencement ceremonies are expected to wear appropriate academic regalia. To RSVP for any commencement exercise, please email the Provost’s Office.

Academic Processions

Mace Party: Assemble in the Green Room/Interview Room (Room E143) thirty minutes before the ceremony begins.

Faculty Procession: Enter the Colonial Life Arena through the College Street door. Walk straight ahead on the concourse until you see the Elevator for Faculty & Platform Party Robing Areas sign. Take the elevator down to the event floor level and follow the signs to the robing areas. Plan to robe thirty minutes before the ceremony.

Platform Party: Assemble in the Green Room/Interview Room (Room E143). Be lined up and prepared to step off ten minutes before the ceremony begins.

Post-Graduate Commencement Exercises

Summer and fall graduates of the School of Medicine and School of Law participate in the university’s baccalaureate, master’s and professional ceremony.

Doctoral Hooding Exercises

Attending faculty members and dissertation advisors should assemble in the Koger Center's large rehearsal hall thirty minutes before the ceremony.
