Graduation is a significant milestone in your life story. Before you know it, you’ll be in your cap and gown raising a health to the university — and to your future — at commencement.


Schedule Advising Appointment

Arrange for an official graduation application review with an advisor to ensure your eligibility for degree candidacy.

Complete Graduation Application

Complete the online graduation application in Self Service Carolina. During the application process, you will be asked to verify your program, name and diploma mailing address.

Students expecting to graduate should apply early in the semester of their anticipated graduation, based upon your campus or academic unit deadlines. 

Your academic unit will review your submitted application and determine eligibility for degree candidacy.

You can view your graduation and degree application information in Self Service Carolina.

When a decision has been made regarding your degree candidacy, you will receive notification from the registrar’s office via your university issued email address.

  • Aiken Students: Invited to attend commencement exercises held on the Aiken Campus.
  • Beaufort Students: Invited to attend commencement exercises held on the Beaufort Campus.
  • Columbia Students: Invited to attend commencement exercises held on the Columbia Campus.
  • Regional Campuses: Invited to attend commencement exercises on their home campus.
  • Upstate Students: Invited to attend commencement exercises held on the Upstate Campus.

Get Your Tickets

Students participating in the December or May Commencement Ceremonies  may elect to receive up to 6 guest tickets for the event. Review the Tickets and Seating page for additional information. 

Order Cap and Gown

Order your cap and gown. Academic regalia may be purchased from the USC Bookstore.

Review Student Account

Don't let a parking ticket stop you from receiving your diploma.  Make sure any holds against your university account are removed at least two weeks prior to graduation.  

To find out if your account has any outstantding holds, view hold information in Self Service Carolina.

Complete Degree Requirements

Ensure that you have completed all degree requirements by the end of your final semester.

Receive Your Degree & Diploma

Your diploma will be mailed to the address identified on your graduation application.  Diplomas are typically mailed three months after you graduate.
