Subject Area: Biology, Chemistry, Math, and Statistics.
I graduated at the top of my class from Lancaster High School in 2016. I am currently
a freshman, and I am majoring in Exercise Science. After I receive my undergraduate
degree, I would like to pursue a Master's degree and become a physician's assistant.
At the Academic Success Center, I tutor Biology 101, Chemistry 111, Math 111, 111i,
Math 122, 141, RCAM 105, and Statistics 201. I decided to apply for a tutoring position
at the Academic Success Center because everyone deserves an opportunity to achieve
their goals and reach success. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my two dogs
(Toby and Chesnee), watching Grey's Anatomy, and reading books. Please feel free to
drop by at the Academic Success Center and see me for help.
Subject Area: Biology, Chemistry and Statistics.
I graduated from Nation Ford High School in 2015, and I am currently a sophomore at
USCL studying in the four year nursing program. After I complete my undergraduate
degree, I plan on going to graduate school to become a nurse anesthetist. Right now,
I tutor Biology 101, 120, 243, 244 along with Chemistry 102 and Statistics 110. I
like working in the Academic Success Center because I think it’s very rewarding to
see students that I helped excel in their classes. When I’m not studying for school
or tutoring in the ASC, I like spending time running, hanging out with friends, and
just taking my mind off of school.
Subject Area: Math.
I am originally from Seneca, SC, but spent most of my youth in North Carolina. I earned
my BS degree in Mathematics from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC, then
married my high school sweetheart and moved to Hagerstown, MD. After my husband’s
tour of duty in the army ended, we moved here to Lancaster where I taught mathematics
at Buford High School until I retired in 2010. During my time at BHS, I earned my
MAT degree in Mathematics from Winthrop University. Once retired, my friend and former
colleague, Betty Stroud, encouraged me to come to USCL and apply for a tutoring position
in the ASC. I’m so glad I did!! It is so rewarding to work with the students I’ve
met here, as well as, to see and talk with some of my former students from Buford
High School. With my 34 years of experience in teaching high school mathematics, I
think I am able to communicate well with the students I encounter in the ASC.
Subject Area: Spanish, Italian, and Writing.
I am a Spanish tutor at the Academic Success Center as well as Italian and writing.
I have been working at the Academic Success Center since my freshman year, so this
is my seventh year. I am from Lancaster, South Carolina. I graduated from Andrew Jackson
High School in 2010. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership from
the University of South Carolina Palmetto College in 2014. Apart from working in the
ASC, I work in game day guest relations with the Carolina Panthers. In my free time,
I enjoy going to church, listening to music, watching movies, reading, and spending
time with my family.
Subject Area: Chemistry, Spanish, and Writing.
After completing my first two years of college at USCL, I graduated from USC in May
2015 with a BA in philosophy. I am currently a graduate student at Columbia International
University, pursuing an MA in theological studies with a concentration in Koine Greek.
Because I was homeschooled for a number of years, I had no idea of what to expect
when I began college, but I had a very rewarding, productive experience at USCL, and
I learned a great deal about which direction I wanted to take as a student. I thoroughly
enjoy working as a tutor in the ASC, which I have been doing for the past four years.
I tutor writing, Spanish, and general chemistry, and I have a unique interest for
each of these subjects. There are few things I enjoy more than helping students succeed
academically in areas which challenge them, and I often find that I learn quite a
bit during the process as well. Whenever I’m outside the classroom, I enjoy jogging,
weightlifting, playing bass guitar, and researching medieval philosophy.
Subject Area: French and Writing.
Having taught a French course at USC-L in spring 2012, I was pleased to be given a
chance to tutor in the ASC. I missed teaching French and English students at Andrew
Jackson High and am enjoying seeing and helping former students and meeting new ones.
I have a BA degree from Western Carolina and a Master’s from Francis Marion plus 30
more hours from Winthrop. When I am not in the ASC, you will typically find me on
the golf course, in my yard, reading a book, or out with friends. My husband and I
like to travel and go as often as time and dollars permit! Baton Rouge is a regular
visit for us since my daughter, her husband, and three great grandchildren live there.
Drop by the ASC for me to help you with either French or writing.
Subject Area: Biology, Chemistry, Math, and Statistics.
I graduated from Rock Hill High School in 2015. I am currently a sophomore in the
four year nursing program here at USCL. After earning my four year degree, I hope
to work in a trauma center or an Emergency Room. I eventually want to attend graduate
school to become a nurse practitioner. I would like to work in the medical field because
I really enjoy helping others. This is why I decided to work in the Academic Success
Center. I enjoy helping other students when they do not understand something and even
learn something new myself. I tutor Math (111, 111i, 112), Statistics (110, 201),
Biology (243, 244, 250), and Chemistry (101, 102). In my free time I enjoy being outdoors,
going to hockey games, going to football games, and taking care of my animals.
