USC Union student Alex Chapman was recently presented with the Purple Heart Medal for injuries sustained from an IED during his 2011 combat tour in Afghanistan. The presentation was made at an Upstate military appreciation ceremony that included a flyover by A-10 Thunderbolt IIs assigned to the 74th Fighter Squadron. After he completes his education, he wants to pursue a career as a game warden with the S.C. Department of Natural Resources.
