The Palmetto College Online Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing is issued by the Mary Black School of Nursing at USC Upstate.
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is offered to registered nurses who are graduates of an ACEN (formerly NLN) accredited associate degree or diploma program in nursing. This program offers the RN student the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills needed for professional nursing practice in a wide variety of settings and provides the educational foundation that is the basis for graduate study in nursing. Registered nurses who meet the admission requirements for the RN-BSN program may complete the program in one calendar year of study. Students selecting part-time study may take two years to complete the program.
Course work focuses on professionalism, leadership, healthcare informatics and critical thinking skills nurses need in a rapidly evolving healthcare industry. Classes include role transition, health assessment, nursing research, and community health nursing. All RN-BSN students will complete virtual community clinical experiences, windshield surveys and assessments in their own communities.
