Each year hundreds of students begin their university experience at USC Salkehatchie,
established in 1965 with eight part-time faculty members and just 76 students. And
we’ve grown a lot since then, adding a second campus and increasing our student body
to over 1,100, and our faculty to 20 full-time instructors.
USC Salkehatchie is centrally located in the lowcountry of South Carolina with campuses in Walterboro and Allendale. As our campus has grown, so has our educational, cultural, and economic impact on
the community. We’re excited to continue to play an important part in the lives of
local citizens as we enter our fifth decade of service to the rural lowcountry.
