My USC Salkehatchie

Elementary Education

The Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education program is conducted in partnership with USC Aiken. The core requirements are completed as USC Salkehatchie courses. The upper level courses are also completed at the USC Salkehatchie campus but are USC Aiken courses taught by USC Aiken faculty. The entire degree can be completed at USC Salkehatchie.

The Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education degree is fully accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and prepares teacher candidates for certification through the South Carolina State Department of Education. The education program is a 4-year undergraduate degree program conducted in partnership with the University of South Carolina – Aiken. Program faculty facilitate active and engaging learning experiences so that candidates acquire and develop the knowledge, skills and dispositions necessary to become successful, dynamic educators who can plan, instruct, manage, communicate and grow professionally.

Field Experiences

Providing our teacher candidates with authentic field experiences in a school setting is an essential part of the success of our program. We partner with local school districts to provide rich and diverse experiences for our teacher candidates. Our partnerships with area schools have been extremely successful, providing rich opportunities for our teacher candidates to engage with elementary school students. Many of our professional education methods courses are taught in local schools to allow for teacher candidates to interact with and observe teaching best practices.
