Financial Aid Counselor

Student Services Program Coordinator II (Financial Aid Counselor), Band 5. The Financial Aid Counselor represents the University of South Carolina Sumter to prospective, new and continuing students; as well as family members, pertinent USC stakeholders, high school guidance counselors and local administrators. The position is located at the University of South Carolina Sumter’s Office of Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs and, in addition to counseling students, is responsible for administering federal, state and institutional aid; including scholarships, grants, loans and Veterans Affairs benefits. Travel within the USC Sumter service area will be expected as needed. Masters degree in Student Services or related field and 1 year related experience, or bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience. Knowledge of financial aid programs and veterans benefits is highly desirable.

Instructor of Anatomy and Physiology

Instructor of Anatomy and Physiology. Appointment beginning Fall 2018.  University of South Carolina Sumter. Instructor to teach Anatomy and Physiology lecture and lab courses to nursing, pharmacy and other health science majors. A minimum of a Master’s degree is required.

The successful candidate will have experience teaching Anatomy & Physiology I/II lecture and laboratory courses at the college level and have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching of both day and evening classes. The teaching load is twelve contact hours per semester. Student advising and participation in campus committees are expected. USC Sumter is part of USC’s Palmetto College, which involves offering four-year degrees through multiple forms of course delivery and learning, such as two-way video delivery (videoconferencing) and online learning (Blackboard or similar course management system).

Instructor of History

Instructor (non-tenure-track) of History.  Appointment beginning Fall 2018. University of South Carolina Sumter. Master’s degree required for Instructor, Ph.D. preferred. 12 undergraduate contact hours/semester, including day, possible evening, off-site, and distance education classes. Expectations include excellence in teaching, service to the campus and community, and potential for research/scholarship. The ability to teach the United States History sequence is required. Ability to teach Western Civilization survey courses is a plus.

Temporary Maintenance Position

Temporary Maintenance Position. USC Sumter is seeking an individual to begin immediately to serve in the Maintenance Department. Duties include helping skilled trades workers perform maintenance and repair tasks in such areas as carpentry, masonry, electricity, heating, venting and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing and boiler operation. A high school diploma and two or more years of experience are preferred. This position will require approximately 40 hours per week within business hours. The rate of pay is set at $12.50 per hour.

Temporary Custodian Position

Temporary Custodian Position.  USC Sumter is seeking approximately five individuals to begin immediately to serve in the Custodial Department.  Duties include custodial services, facility setup, security, and grounds keeping.  A high school diploma or 10th grade education and 2 years related experience are preferred.  Knowledge of housekeeping operations, related policies and procedures, good communication skills, and the ability to perform diversified duties a plus.  This position will require approximately 40 hours per week.  The rate of pay is set at $9.00 per hour. Work hours will be from 2:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Administrative Specialist II

Administrative Specialist II (Administrative Specialist for Student Support Services), Band 3, USC Sumter. The Administrative Assistant for Student Support Services performs a variety of moderate to complex administrative tasks and technical support of the day-to-day operations. The administrative assistant plans, coordinates, and performs standard management support and service activities for the program, including but not limited to: fiscal, procurement, data and supply functions. The administrative assistant reports to the Program Coordinator and Program Director. This position is contingent upon continued grant funding. Professional or personal experience in overcoming barriers similar to those facing project participants and experience with federal Trio programs, academic support programs, or similar programs for disadvantaged students preferred. Bachelor’s degree, or high school diploma and 4 years related experience. Minimum Salary: $24,456.

Instructor of Statistics

Instructor of Statistics (beginning August 2018) at USC Sumter. Position requires a Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or Mathematics Education. Ph.D. in Statistics or Mathematics preferred. The candidate must have a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Statistics. The teaching load will be twelve credit hours a semester, undergraduate day, evening and possible distance education or online courses consisting primarily of freshman or sophomore courses. Undergraduate academic advising and institutional committee service is required.  Position expectations include excellence in teaching and the ability to incorporate technology in the classroom.

Assistant Professor of Biology

Assistant Professor of Biology. USC Sumter is seeking a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor to teach both face-to-face and online classes, to begin August 2018. An earned doctorate in Exercise Physiology, Biology or related field with a minimum of 18 or more graduate credits earned directly in Anatomy and Physiology. 

A strong commitment to undergraduate teaching of both day and evening classes, and the ability to maintain a healthy level of professional activity in scholarship and service are required. The teaching load is twelve credit hours per semester, with the opportunity for release time for scholarship. Experience teaching Anatomy & Physiology lecture and laboratory courses is preferred. Student advising and participation on campus committees are expected.
