The University of South Carolina will release admissions decisions for the summer/fall 2009 freshman class on two dates: December 15, 2008 and March 16, 2009.

October 1, 2008: Early Answer Application Deadline
If your student submits his or her completed application in by this date and the decision letter will be mailed on December 15th. This letter will indicate your acceptance or denial to the university, or it may indicate that the decision must be delayed until the March 16th Decision Day. It is not uncommon for a significant portion of our applicants to receive delay notification, so don’t worry if the decision is delayed until March 16th. Your student will benefit from knowing we have all required materials in hand in plenty of time to ensure full consideration of the application, and he or she will have time to send us updated credentials later if necessary.  Students that apply by this early answer deadline do not receive an advantage in the decision process, just the assurance of an earlier response.

The completed application includes: the application, $50 nonrefundable application fee (or qualified fee waiver for SC residents only), and all credentials, such as official high-school transcript(s) and official test scores sent directly from the testing service.

November 15, 2008: South Carolina Honors College and Top Scholars Application Deadline
Submit the Honors/Scholars application along with the general University application by November 15th in order to be considered for the SC Honors College and for the University’s most prestigious merit scholarships, including Carolina, McNair, and Alumni Scholars awards. Meet this deadline and we will mail notification of the University admissions decision on December 15. Your student may also receive his or decision on Honors College admission at the same time. If not, then we will send the Honors decision letter no later than February 15.

The completed application includes: the University application, $50 nonrefundable application fee, the Honors College and Top Scholars application, and all credentials, such as official high school transcript(s), official test scores sent directly from the testing service, and two recommendation letters.

December 1, 2008: Priority Application Deadline
To ensure full and equal consideration for the summer or fall semester, submit the completed application by December 1. Decisions for applications received or postmarked by this date will be released on the March 16th Decision Day. Applications received after this date will only receive consideration if space remains available.

The completed application includes: the application, $50 nonrefundable application fee (or qualified fee waiver for SC residents only), and all credentials, such as official high-school transcript(s) and official test scores sent directly from the testing service. Applicants who meet the December 1 deadline will be considered for University scholarships (excluding Carolina, McNair, and Alumni Scholars awards which require completion of Honors College/Top Scholars application).

December 15, 2008: Early Answer Notification Date
Decisions regarding University admission status will be released on December 15th for all applicants who fully comply with the October 1st or November 15th deadlines (see above for details). Applicants may be admitted, denied, or delayed until Decision Day on March 16th.

February 1, 2009: Credentials Deadline
Follow-up credentials, such as official test scores and updated high-school transcripts, must be received by February 1st. Applications for which credentials are received after February 1st will be considered on a space-available basis.

February 15, 2009: SC Honors College Notification
All offers of admission to the South Carolina Honors College will be made by February 15.

March 16, 2009: Decision Day
Decisions will be released on March 16th for students who apply by December 1st and who also meet the February 1st Credentials deadline.
