About the Program
As a student majoring in sport and entertainment management, you will work toward the Bachelor of Science degree. Our program is considered one of the top-rated programs of its kind and combines studies in the liberal arts with classes in business, accounting, marketing, economics, finance, information management, and sport and entertainment management. Admission/Progression Requirements
To be admitted into the College of Hospitality, Retail, and Sport Management, you must meet all University and college admissions standards. University requirements for freshmen include a completed application, nonrefundable application fee, high-school record complete up to the time of application (including record of at least 20 academic units of study earned as required by the University), and entrance examination scores (either SAT or ACT). Details for all applicant categories can be found at the Undergraduate Bulletin. The major in sport and entertainment management has two divisions: preprofessional and professional. You will begin your studies in the preprofessional area and move to the professional division after you complete specific requirements. In order to obtain professional-division status, you must fulfill the department’s 45 credit-hour progression requirement and that of the College of Hospitality, Retail, and Sport Management. A minimum grade point average of 2.50 must be achieved. Students who do not meet specific course, semester hour, grade point average, and practicum requirements for progression must continue in the preprofessional division. Graduation also requires a 2.50 minimum grade point average.

Program of Study (127 hours)
The preprofessional division requires completion of 45 hours of course work, including six hours of English, six hours of mathematics, and 15 hours of sport and entertainment management courses. Your sport and entertainment management courses must include Introduction to Sport and Entertainment Management and Computer Applications in Sport and Entertainment Management. You must also complete six hours of practicum courses. Your practicum must be supervised work experience in a sport or entertainment management area that you select with the approval of your academic advisor. Your contract must be approved by your advisor or the department chair. Your degree requirements include of 46 hours of general education requirements, which includes 12 hours of English, 21 hours of humanities and social sciences, and 13 hours of mathematics and sciences. Your major requirements consist of 63 hours of course work: 24 hours of fundamental knowledge courses in business administration, economics, and retailing and 39 hours of sport and entertainment management and professional specialization course work. Your studies will be completed with 15 hours of general electives.

Many are involved in internationally recognized research projects. Carolina Coliseum, the University Department of Athletics, and local sports organizations and clubs offer valuable learning opportunities for students who major in sport and entertainment management. Our students have interned with such companies as CNN Sports, Disney Sports, the Carolina Panthers, and many other professional and collegiate organizations.
