The mission of the USC Beaufort Library is to support the
educational goals of the campus as expressed in its programs
and curriculum. The library
accomplishes its mission in the following ways: 1) by building
and maintaining comprehensive collections of resources that
support and extend the academic offerings of the curriculum
and that are freely available to USCB's students, faculty, staff
and adult residents across Beaufort and Jasper Counties;
2) by teaching students and library patrons how best to locate
and retrieve the information they seek; and 3) by utilizing the
most advanced technologies to provide additional access to
recorded information housed in libraries and other facilities
around the globe.
- To build a library collection of materials in all formats that effectively
serves the day-to-day needs of the undergraduate degree programs of USCB
- To provide appropriate library public services, including circulation,
reference, interlibrary loan, and instruction, to USCB students and faculty
both on campus and from remote locations
- To ensure that all students can demonstrate information literacy skills
- To provide the latest technologies and equipment available to enhance the
access and retrieval of information resources
- To provide adequate, comfortable spaces and facilities that promote optimum
library utilization at both campus sites

library programs at both campus sites
- To ensure continuous, adequate budgetary support for appropriate library growth
and development
