Dr. John Spurrier, Principal of the Capstone Scholars, has been on the University of South Carolina faculty since 1974. He holds the rank of Professor of Statistics. Dr. Spurrier has won the University’s major teaching and advising awards. He has published two books and 89 research articles. Dr. Spurrier is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association and was the 2002 Governor’s Professor of the Year. |

David DeWeil, Assistant Principal of the Capstone Scholars Program, received a M.E. in Higher Education & Student Affairs and a B.A. in Media Arts from the University of South Carolina. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, playing numerous sports, reading and watching college football and international soccer. |

Joy Yard is the Capstone Scholars Administrative Assistant. She is a graduate of Bowling Green State University with a B.S. in Education, where she studied Sport Management. In her free time, she enjoys watching sports, college football, traveling, going to the beach and spending time with her husband, family and friends. |
