USC's Columbia campus will be closed Tuesday (Jan. 28) due to impending winter weather. University offices will be closed and all classes will be cancelled. Snow and ice are expected to impact much of South Carolina, including the Midlands. No decision has been made for university operations on Wednesday (Jan. 29).
The SC Emergency Management Division has instructed, "State government offices and their employees will follow the same winter weather hazard decisions made by the county government officials where the state office is located." Richland County announced the decision to close on Tuesday earlier this evening.
The National Weather Service in Columbia has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the campus from 11:00 a.m. Tuesday until 9:00 a.m. Wednesday.
Facilities and Law Enforcement have begun staging resources and making preparations should snow and ice impact our campus.
