Peace Corps Fellows Program

We offer an exciting approach to connecting with the state’s Spanish-speaking community. Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs) earning a graduate degree at USC are invited to participate in the Fellows Program. This program provides students with temporary employment or a graduate assistantship at The Center.

Peace Corps Fellows have the opportunity to use their field experience and language skills to benefit the Hispanic/Latino population. At the same time, they form connections with professionals and community members statewide.

Fellows work, on average, 10 hours a week with a team of RPCVs and other graduate students from Latin America and Spain. Possible work assignments include

  • interpretation and translation services;
  • leadership in cultural competency workshops.

RPCVs who served in Latin America and are proficient in Spanish may apply to the Fellows Program. First priority is given to students in the master of social work program, but students from all academic departments are encouraged to apply.

To apply for the Peace Corps Fellows Program, download an application and contact Teresa Butkus at 803-777-1365 or t.butkus@sc.edu.
