The spirit
of homecoming weekend kicked into high gear as our alumni reconnected
Saturday, Oct. 22 for the annual tailgate barbeque.
Nearly 150 alums attended the event, and a great time was had
by all.
“When considered together with the alumni society kick-off
event the day before, these are quite remarkable vehicles for building
and sustaining ties with one of our key publics,” said Dr.
Shirley Staples Carter, director of the Journalism School.
Along with some good barbeque, alumni received Alumni Society
T-shirts and decals to proudly wear and display in their car windows.
Another tailgate basket, filled with Gamecock goodies, was raffled
and Saturday’s winner was Howard Rowell, a 1953 graduate
of the Journalism School.
The weekend as a whole was a big hit, but this is only the beginning.
“Stay-tuned—as we broadcasters like to say—we
want everyone on campus to notice what our College and our alumni
can accomplish,” said Dean Bierbauer. |
