The kickoff of our College's
unique Alumni Society proved to be a huge success as more than
100 people gathered on Gibbes Green Friday, Oct. 21 to celebrate.
The conversation was lively among old friends as everyone enjoyed
food, drinks and entertainment. They especially enjoyed renewing
old friendships.
"I was very impressed with the number of faculty, alumni
and staff who made time to come out Friday afternoon," said
Dr. Dan Barron, director of the Library School. "From the
time it started until the time it ended everyone was obviously
having a good time."
President Sorensen was among the guests. He took a few moments
to share his hopes and plans for the College and the J-School’s "Big
Move to the Top!"
"The setting between Davis and LeConte colleges on Gibbes
Green Friday evening was perfect. Our College belongs there. I
was pleased to hear Dr. Sorensen reiterate his commitment to making
our move happen," said Charles Bierbauer, dean of the College.
Other notable moments included: The tailgate basket
was won by Sue Husman, a 1975 graduate of the Library school,
and remarks from Dean Bierbauer and Jack Claypoole, the Alumni
Society chairman.
