Robert Randolph Newlen is head of the Legislative
Relations Office, Congressional Research Service (CRS), Library
of Congress. He has operational responsibility for congressional
inquiry receipt and tracking; professional development and
seminar programs for Members of Congress and congressional
staff; and for CRS outreach efforts.
Newlen has been with
the Library of Congress for 30 years. He has lectured and
provided technical assistance on a wide range of library
issues in Russia, the Czech Republic, Moldova and Belarus
- as part of the State Dept. speakers program and through
initiatives of the U.S. Congress.
He is currently serving his second term as an Endowment
Trustee for the American Library Association (ALA) and
was recently appointed senior trustee. In this position,
he oversees the investment of the $30 million endowment.
He served on the ALA Executive Board from 1996 to 2000
and is a member of the ALA Council.
He received a masters degree in library science from The
Catholic University, an MA in art history from The American
University, and a BA from Bridgewater College.
He is the author of Resume Writing and Interviewing
Techniques that Work: A How-To-Do-It Manual for Librarians published
by Neal-Schuman (2006). He speaks frequently on resume
writing and interviewing. |
