SOUTH CAROLINA SCHOLASTIC PRESS ASSOCIATION (SCSPA)
The South Carolina Scholastic Press Association is dedicated to
the advancement of scholastic journalism. Member schools include
both middle and senior high schools from across the state.
Services offered to member schools throughout the year include:
- two one-day conferences one in early October, one in
late April,
- one-day workshops in computer, writing, design and web the
Saturday prior to the September conference,
- one and one-half day regional summer redesign workshops,
- one-day adviser retreats in the fall and winter,
- publication evaluations and contests,
- semiannual and annual contests for individuals
- publications (bi-monthly newsletter and Scholastic Review which showcases winners of contests)
- scholarships
- individual awards for students, advisers and scholastic journalism
supporters: Journalist of the Year, Reid H. Montgomery Adviser
of the Year and the Albert T. Scroggins Award
Membership in SCSPA is $40 per staff each year. A three-year membership
is available for $100.
