Picture Perfect
Senior Scott Rachesky strolled into the Norton Museum of Art to view his work and the work of his classmates during the school’s exhibition.
“My work was a picture of a broomstick, but it had a lot of geometric aspects going on,” Scott said.
For a couple of weeks, Scott had heard whispers of his photograph being well-received at the exhibit. “I had heard people as about the artist before, but I always managed to slip away before they could see me,” Scott said. One day, though, Scott couldn’t escape. His friends pushed him towards his artwork, and the interested person.
“This guy was just talking to me about the picture, and then out of nowhere he asked if he could buy it,” Scott said, “and naturally, I was flabbergasted!” The man proceeded to ask Scott how much we was willing to sell the piece for, as Scott gave him a puzzled look. “Mrs. Brubaker pulled me aside and told me anywhere from 50 to 100 dollars, and of course my mom signaled me a 1-5-0 while I was talking to him,” Scott said.
Scott sold the photograph for 150 dollars, but he gained more than just pocket change; he gained a realization that he was a true artist, not just a high school photographer.
