Educational research and scholarship proposals can compete for internal funding
through the Research Opportunity Program and Small Grant Program. Program

The Faculty Committee on Instructional
Development shall initiate studies and make recommendations to the
faculty and administration on enhancing the practice and status of
teaching. This committee also serves as the Advisory Board for the

Collection houses and circulates an extensive collection of videotapes,
16mm films, and DVDs for classroom and educational uses. More

Writing Center serves faculty
and instructors who are currently teaching or would like to teach a

Office of Faculty Development
provides programs, consultative services and resources to develop the
knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in academic medicine. More

The Office of Student Judicial Programs
is the point of contact for issues related to academic integrity. The
academic

of the academic integrity process to help faculty understand their role.
The Counseling and Human
Development Center provides psychological counseling, education, and
consultation, to the University community, as well as clinical supervision
for selected mental health graduates. Offered services promote social,
emotional, physical, and cognitive well-being for people facing

University 101 is both an academic
department and a course offered at the University of South Carolina. Its
mission as an academic department is to provide educational
opportunities for students, faculty, and staff. All USC faculty
and staff interested in teaching University 101, are required to
complete one Teaching Experience Workshop. These workshops are offered
twice a year at the beginning and end of each spring semester.

The National Resource Center for the First-Year
Experience and Students in Transition has as its mission improving
student learning and transitions into and through higher education
by providing opportunities for the exchange of practical,
theory-based information and ideas through the convening of
conferences, teleconferences, institutes, and workshops; publishing
monographs, a peer-reviewed journal, an electronic newsletter,
guides, and books; generating and supporting research and
scholarship; hosting visiting scholars; and administering a web site

TRIO is dedicated to
addressing the needs of low-income, working-class citizens who are
interested in pursuing a college degree. It offers five
different programs, each targeted at a specific group of individuals
from the 6th grade through adulthood. Services and activities
include academic tutoring, cultural enrichment, financial aid
counseling, summer on-campus residency programs, admissions

The Office of Student Engagement
supports initiatives to encourage University of South Carolina
undergraduate students’ engagement in curricular and co-curricular
activities that facilitate their learning, academic success, and
involvement on campus. Some of the supported initiatives are service
learning, undergraduate research, study abroad, peer leadership,
