The Center for Engineering and
Computing Education, the CTE supports 2 fellowship opportunities open to USC
Graduate Students in Science, Engineering, Computing and Math. The GK-12 and Pi
Fellowship programs share the common goals of:

Preparing today’s graduate
students to be tomorrow’s faculty by improving teaching and communication
skills |
 |
Providing enriching
learning experiences for middle school students of STEM (Science,
Technology, Engineering and Math) concepts and applications |
 |
Fostering STEM content gain
and professional development among participating middle school teachers |
GK-12 Fellowships:
 |
Spend 2 days working in a
middle school science classroom and 5 hours planning each week |

Fellowship runs August 2008
- August 2009 |

$30,000 yearly stipend

Up to $10,500 additional
funds for tuition/fees |

Provide direct assistance
in grade 6-8 science classrooms during the academic year |

Pi Fellowship Options:
 |
Option 1: Fall 2008 ONLY
This option is for you if you want a greater time commitment during one
semester only. In the Fall Only option, you will be in the classroom 2 days
per week, August – December, with approximately 10 hours per week of
planning, plus attending GRAD 800. The $10,000 is paid over a 4 ˝ month
period.

Option 2: Fall 2008 –
Spring 2009
This option is for you if you prefer a supplemental appointment to a
research or teaching appointment you already hold. In the yearlong option,
you will be in the classroom 1 day per week with approximately 5 hours of
planning plus attending GRAD 800. The $10,000 is paid over a 9 month
period, August - May.
