Foundations of Tourism
CLASS SESSION: Monday, March 17, 2014-Monday, April 28, 2014
This is a six week course which runs from March 17 - April 28. Registration is RESTRICTED TO HRTM MAJORS UNTIL 11/18/2013, RESTRICTED TO BAIS UNTIL 11/25/2013, RESTRICTED TO HRTM MINORS UNTIL 12/02/2013.
Course Delivery Type: Web: A Web course is taught using one or more web delivery platforms such as Blackboard, Streaming Video, Adobe Connect etc.
Students must have access to a high-speed Internet connection. More information will be provided by the instructor in the course syllabus.
(100% asynchronous - if course has any online or face-to-face meetings, live attendance will not be required. For any such sessions, there will be alternative ways to view or obtain the material covered).

Undergraduate Bulletin Course Description: Basic introduction to the social science of tourism in the US and the world, including definitional issues, motivations for travel, factors influencing demand-side and supply-side growth, the tourism product, market segmentation and marketing, socioeconomic, and ecological impacts, and destination life cycle dynamics.
