Selected Topics: Improving Literacy Skills in All Students

CLASS SESSION: Friday, June 06, 2014-Monday, June 16, 2014

General Information: Course will be delivered by Web conferencing utilizing Adobe Connect. All students must be present, either in person or online, for the three class sessions on June 9,10 and 11, 8:00 - 12:15. USC Columbia students may attend classes in the Williams-Brice Nursing building, Room 409; all other students will view classes live via the Internet and may call in with questions. The Adobe Connect URL will be posted in Blackboard by the instructor prior to the first class meeting. High-speed Internet access is required for Adobe Connect.

Course Delivery Type: Over 50% Web Delivery: A Web course is taught using one or more web delivery platforms such as Blackboard, Streaming Video, Adobe Connect etc. Students must have access to a high-speed Internet connection. More information will be provided by the instructor in the course syllabus.

Credit: 1 semester hour of graduate credit

Graduate Bulletin Course Description: This course will provide an overview of literacy development at the word and text level, specific guidelines and suggestions will be offered for assessment, instruction and remediation. Time will be provided for participants to practice the activities suggested and to interact with and ask questions of the instructor.
