A series of required electronic training programs on the prevention of harassment and discrimination are now available online for University of South Carolina faculty, staff and students.

  1. EOP Title IX Training 101A -- Protecting the Rights of Students, Knowing Your Role and Responsibility: A Course for Newly Employed Employees

    This training must be completed by all new incoming regular, full- and part-time USC employees, and student leaders at the University of South Carolina.

    The training will inform faculty, staff, and students about behaviors that constitute prohibited discrimination and sexual harassment and clarify employees’ understanding of their duty to report credible information regarding incidents of prohibited discrimination, including sexual harassment, sexual assault, partner or dating violence and gender-based stalking.

    The 4-step training consists of:

    1. Download EOP 1.02, Sexual Harassment Policy.
    2. Download the Faculty/Staff Checklist and the Student Resource Card.
    3. Watch the video
    4. Take the quiz

    You may also sign up for large group training sessions through the Office of Training and Development (Coming soon).

    Large group training sessions will be held to present the online courses and facilitate a discussion about key points for employees who do not have regular computer access or who, for other reasons, require facilitator lead training. In addition, a transcript of this training is attached.

    Those courses will have limited capacity and are intended for employees who are unable or will have difficulty taking the training online. Unit heads are asked to help identify employees who will need or benefit from facilitator lead training.

    Supervisors should send a list of employees who will require facilitator led training to Nakayla Brown, Administrative Assistant, Office of Equal Opportunity Programs, with the best time of day for the training for employees in their area.

    A schedule of dates and times for facilitator led training will be posted on the HR Training and Development Website. For more information, email wellscr@mailbox.sc.edu.

  2. EOP Title IX Training 101B -- Protecting the Rights of Others: A Course for Faculty and Staff at the University of South Carolina

    This training must be completed by all regular, full- and part-time USC employees at the University of South Carolina on a semi-annual bases.

    The training will inform faculty, staff, and students about behaviors that constitute prohibited discrimination and sexual harassment and clarify employees’ understanding of their duty to report credible information regarding incidents of prohibited discrimination, including sexual harassment, sexual assault, partner or dating violence and gender-based stalking.

    The 3-step training consists of:

    1. Download EOP 1.02, Sexual Harassment Policy.
    2. Download the Faculty/Staff Checklist and the Student Resource Card.
    3. Complete the Course

  3. EOP Title IX Training 102 -- Protecting the Rights of Students, A Training for Student Leaders

    This training will inform student leaders about behaviors that constitute sexual assault and clarify student’s understanding of their duty to report credible information regarding incidents of sexual assault or other forms of sexual misconduct.

    The 4-step training consists of:

    1. Download STUDAF 6.14, Student Non-Discrimination Sexual Policy.
    2. Download the Faculty/Staff Checklist and the Student Resource Card.
    3. Watch the video

  4. EOP Sexual Harassment 201 -- Preventing Sexual Harassment in the Workplace

    "Preventing Sexual Harassment in the Workplace" must be completed annually by all full and part-time USC employees.

    A positive work environment free of harassment is not only required by law, it also influences employee morale, productivity, and long term success. This sexual harassment training course is designed to help employees understand how they can foster a positive workplace environment, comply with laws, regulations, and policies, and understand how to respond if they feel they are the target of workplace harassment.

    The 3-step training consists of:

  5. EOP Sexual Harassment 202 -- Preventing Sexual Harassment in the Workplace, for Managers and Supervisors

    "Preventing Sexual Harassment in the Workplace, for Managers and Supervisors" must be completed annually by all supervisors, managers, and department heads at the University of South Carolina. Supervisors, managers, and department heads play an important role in ensuring policies are enforced and that all employees live up to high standards of conduct. In this training video, supervisors will learn about their special role in the organization, being a role model, how to enforce policies, handle complaints, set a positive tone, and reach out for assistance when needed.

  6. EOP Non-Discrimination 203 -- Protecting the Rights of Students, Preventing and Addressing Discrimination at the University of South Carolina

    "Protecting the Rights of Students, Preventing and Addressing Discrimination at the University of South Carolina" is a training that is mandated by the U.S. Department of Justice. All faculty, staff, and students must complete the training once, and then repeat it on a semi-annual basis.

    This course will teach faculty, staff, and students how to maintain a safe and respectful work environment by helping to spot and report violations of the University’s Policies, which prohibit harassment and discrimination based on any protected characteristic, including gender, ethnic background, race, color, sex, national origin, religion, age, disability, sexual orientation, genetics, or and veteran status.

    The training will inform faculty and staff about behaviors that constitute prohibited discrimination and clarify employees’ understanding of their duty to report credible information regarding incidents of prohibited discrimination and harassment.
