Motion From The Student Affairs Committee

Whereas the mission of the Student Affairs Committee is unclear (p. 16, Faculty Manual):

This committee is composed of six faculty members (one of whom shall be chair), six students, the Vice President for Student Affairs, and two other administrative officials appointed by the President. Its functions are to review* all aspects of student life at the University outside the formal responsibility of other standing committees, including the regulation of student organizations and the operation of the Division of Student Affairs.

Whereas issues related to Student Affairs are already resolved by standing advisory committees and special task forces - e.g., advisory committees on admissions and housing and recent Task Force on the radio station:

We are RESOLVED: The Student Affairs Committee should be eliminated as a standing committee and the description of the committee from p. 16 of the current Faculty Manual.
