Traveling to Columbia

The Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE) is served by Continental, Delta, Midway, United, and US Airways. Direct flights from New York City take less than 2 hours.

If you are driving, three interstates bring you to Columbia: I-77 from the north; I-20 from the southwest/northeast; and I-26 from the northwest/southeast. Drive times run about 70 minutes from Charlotte, North Carolina; 90 minutes from Charleston, South Carolina; 3.5 hours from Raleigh-Durham; and 4 hours from Atlanta. Amtrak and Greyhound both stop near the conference site.

Parking at the university is limited, but some spaces are available with advanced notice. Shuttle service to and from the Adam's Mark Hotel will be provided as needed. Both the city and the university have in-town public transit.

Accommodations

The Adam's Mark Hotel is the host for guests of "Orphans of the Storm." The hotel is located in the heart of the Main Street corridor, one block from the Columbia Museum of Art and the South Carolina State House. Shuttle buses will be available to take you to and from the film symposium. The USC campus, where most symposium events will take place, is less than one mile from the Adam's Mark, so it is possible to walk.

A block of rooms is reserved for conference participants. Single/double rooms are $69 each night and include complimentary continental breakfast. Phone to reserve a room (800-444-2326). Indicate you are with the orphan film conference to receive the conference rate. Deadline March 5, 2001.
