For decades, researchers have asserted that the more time and energy students invest in their college experiences, the more likely they will be to persist and succeed in college. The challenge for educators is designing structures and experiences that will encourage maximum investment on the part of students.
To help colleges and universities respond to this challenge, the National Resource Center has developed a number of print and video resources focusing on learning communities, active learning strategies, and study abroad programs—all strategies that have been proven to increase student investment in learning. These resources, especially the teleconference videos, can be used to guide discussion and planning in faculty/staff development workshops, departmental or faculty meetings, trustee briefings, and strategic planning retreats.
