When I finished high school in 1939 it was not expensive to go to college,but there was no money. My daddy couldn't support three of us in college at the same time, so I went to a small business school instead of the University of South Carolina. I vowed then, at age 17, that if I was ever in a position to help a student go to college, that would be my top priority."
