Science and Health Communication Research Group Member Dr. Feili Tu-Keefner Receives National and International Recognition for Research
Science and Health Communication Research Group (SHCRG) member and School of Library andInformation Science (SLIS) Associate Professor Dr. Feili Tu-Keefner wontwo awards for her research on health information accessed through Twitter. She presented her paper, titled, “Twitter, Scholarly Communication, and Evidence-based Health Information Access: How Major Medical Journals Have Been Using Social Media for Information Dissemination,” at the Connections Medical Library Association (MLA) Quad Chapter Meeting in Baltimore, MD in October 2012. Her paper was awarded first place for research papers at the MLA Quad Meeting and first place for research papers the Southern Chapter/MLA Annual Meeting.
Dr. Tu-Keefner will also present a secondary paper focusing on health information and Twitter at the 2013 International Symposium on Business and Social Sciences (ISBSS) in Tokyo, Japan in March 2013. She will make an oral presentation on her paper, “Twitter and Evidence-Based Health Information Access on Women’s Health: How Major Medical Journals Have Been Using Social Media for Information Dissemination,” and she will also be published in the conference proceedings.
