Science and Health electives to be offered in Spring 2011

Two science and health communication courses will be offered in Spring 2011 in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications.

1) JOUR 773: Risk Communication

Monday 2:00-4:45 p.m.

Drawing on literature from across the social sciences, this course will provide graduate students with:

1. a grounding in key ideas from the study of crisis and risk communication; and
2. skills needed to communicate effectively during a crisis or when addressing topics involving risk and uncertainty

2) JOUR 562: Communicating Science, Health and the Environment

Tues./ Thurs. 9:30-10:45

Explores the role of mass communication in shaping perceptions of scientific issues and risk.
