Dr. Brooke Weberling Joins USC Faculty, Science and Health Communication Research Group
Dr. Brooke Weberling has joined the University of South Carolina faculty in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications as an assistant professor in the public relations sequence.
“I am honored to join the USC faculty and thrilled to work with students in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications. I look forward to getting to know everyone better and becoming more involved on campus and in the community,” said Weberling.
Dr. Weberling will also become a member of the Science and Health Communication Research group and has extensive experience in health communication. She studies public relations, nonprofit and health communication with a focus on advocacy and strategies to increase stakeholder support.
“I hope my professional experience in public relations, especially in the nonprofit industry, will be beneficial to my students, and I look forward to collaborating with colleagues in the Science and Health Communication Research Group on interdisciplinary research projects.”
Prior to joining USC, Dr. Weberling taught public relations courses at UNC-Chapel Hill while working on her doctoral degree. She received her Ph.D. from UNC-Chapel Hill earlier this year.
Dr. Weberling’s professional experience includes managing marketing and communication initiatives for nonprofit organizations such as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She has also consulted on projects for the Bedford Stem Cell Research Foundation, the National Children’s Study, and worked with corporate clients at a public relations agency in Chicago.
