Nancy Pope Rice and Nancy Rice Davis Library Treasure Endowment

To strengthen the ability of the Dean for Libraries and Information Systems to make special and significant acquisitions in a timely fashion for the USC Libraries, the Nancy Pope Rice and Nancy Rice Davis Library Treasure Endowment was established. These funds will allow the Dean to purchase books and manuscripts to enhance the special collections held by Thomas Cooper Library and South Caroliniana Library.

Because estate and book sales and other unplanned opportunities cannot be budgeted, valuable materials are often lost to other repositories. This endowment will permit the Dean to move in a timely manner to acquire appropriate educational and literary materials which will strengthen the collections of the USC Libraries.

Nancy Rice Davis and her mother, Nancy Pope Rice of Columbia, S.C., established this practical fund to support timely and special library acquisitions in honor of George D. Terry. Both donors were actively involved at USC: Nancy Rice graduated from USC in 1931 and taught physical education and Nancy Davis attended in the 70's.

The first item purchased with funds from the endowment interest was John’s Island Stud by Fairfax Harrison (1750 – 1788) which is in South Caroliniana Library. For more information, please contact us.
