Provenance

Following the death of Lucien De Groote, his wife, Helen Wilkin De Groote (a violinist), donated several thousand scores to the library in 1994. Although most of these materials may be found in the regular collection, special or fragile items are on limited access and do not circulate. A portrait of De Groote is on display in the library as well as his baton from the Charleston premiere of Porgy and Bess.
