Articles with Primary Source Material

Just as primary source material may be published in books, there may be primary sources included in articles.  Historical indexes are most likely to note the inclusion of primary sources.  Two indexes you can search are America:  History and Life and Historical Abstracts .  Some of the same terms used in the library catalog are used in the indexes.

autobiographies

diaries

personal narratives

anecdotes

documents

slave narratives

archives

interviews

speeches, addresses, etc

biography

letters

travel accounts

caricatures and cartoons

manuscripts

Read the abstract to determine if the author used primary sources and/or if the article includes actual primary source material.
