Undated manuscript volume entitled “A Memoir of circum¬stances connected with the early life of Col. Francis Kinloch Huger and an account of his effort to rescue Genl. Lafayette from the Prison of Olmutz, compiled by his daughter Elizabeth Pinckney Huger from memory of conversations had with her Father on the subject and memoranda left by him.”
This version of the story differs slightly from the pamphlet written by Elizabeth Pinckney Huger and published in Charleston around 1881 under the title Statement of the Attempted Rescue of General Lafayette from “Olmutz” and may represent an earlier draft copy. The end paper on the front cover of the volume bears the signature of C[leland] K[inloch] Huger.
