Letter, 7 March 1837, from attorney F[ranklin] J. Moses, Sumterville, [Sumter, South Carolina], reminds Col. W[illia]m McWillie, of Camden, South Carolina, that “Mrs. [C.R.] Blair desires... you to issue subpoenas for her witnesses in the case v[ersus] L. Young for whipping her negro [slave]. The witnesses (she says) are Martin & his wife.”
